Information about David Dare and his love of photography
I was roughly 8 years old when I got my first camera – a hand-me-down from a relative. Despite deserving a prime slot on the Antiques Roadshow, it started something. In fact it started several things, one of them was an unhealthy appetite for flash cubes (remember those?), another was the painful drain on my pocket money caused by film processing. It was quite a dilemma for an 8 yr old – buy sweets or process film?
A lot has changed since the amusing days of 1984, but my passion for photography remains ever present. Of course it takes more than passion to produce great images. As American photojournalist Eve Arnold said "The instrument is not the camera but the photographer."
I love the challenges that photography brings, and the satisfaction of seeing the reactions people have to images I've taken for them is simply the most rewarding experience out there.
Shooting weddings and portraits really is a pleasure.
